My name is Lauren. Counselor, wife, parent, business owner, and ex-theater person. Also, I got sober at a young age. Why am I telling you this? Because I’ve been around the block and want you to know that I know how difficult life transitions can be.

I am naturally curious about people’s experiences and the motivation that makes them do the things they do. Working with people who want to make a change in their life truly energizes me in a way no other profession has.

Everyone has their story to tell. Everyone needs someone to tell it to and deserves to be heard.

What you can expect from me:

  • Empathy and Encouragement: Being honest with yourself, deciding to make a change, and then figuring out how to do that is hard! I want to celebrate victories and help you develop self compassion during setbacks. In counseling, you may be challenged to look at the darker parts of yourself. I am 100% willing to walk this road with you and accept what emerges.
  • Sense of humor: To be blunt, I love laughing. If we aren’t having a good time, what the heck is the point? Even when trudging through difficult situations or subjects, a little levity can go a long way. I do not confuse this with minimizing important issues. Some things require serious and dedicated thought, but I will help you look at circumstances differently in order to harness the energy to keep going.
  • Genuine curiosity: Understanding is something I strive for. If I have a question, I will ask it. If I offer feedback and it does not sit right with you, I want you to tell me. Apart from building trust, getting to know you and how you operate will help us create realistic goals that you can reach. I want you to be curious too! If you can’t imagine the life that you want, you cannot create it.
  • Focus on feelings and needs: My particular passion is to help people connect honestly with themselves and to give voice to their values. I do this by incorporating opportunities to build a mindful awareness of what is going on in the present moment. Feelings are indicators of needs being met or unmet. They are also sensed in the body. Taking a moment to notice this is something I’m into. I will probably ask you to give it a shot, too.

Have other questions? Ask me! I always offer an initial consultation with people seeking help. It is important to me that you are comfortable with the person you choose to work with.
