Hi, I’m Lauren Verbilla.
I became a counselor because I know what it feels like to need one.
My own healing journey through addiction, codependency, and redefining myself through different chapters of life brought me here. Healing is ongoing — and right now mine looks like holding onto lightheartedness and love as everything around us feels louder and heavier. That's what keeps me present, real, and connected to the people I work with.
Most of my clients have spent years putting everyone else first. They come to me when they're finally ready to stop disappearing and figure out who they actually are. My work is grounded in trauma and recovery, and in the understanding that the patterns keeping you stuck usually have a story behind them.
All are welcome here. Whatever you've been through, whatever you're carrying — you won't have to do this alone.
I take great care to ensure every person I work with feels safe and moves at their own pace. What I know for certain is that healing doesn't have to be heavy every single minute. A session with me can hold real depth and real relief in the same hour.
That balance matters.
In sessions, you’ll experience:
Honest, curious conversation that goes somewhere real.
Laughter, because it helps work through the hard stuff while making time for levity and joy.
A safe space where your body gets a vote and your emotions aren’t something to manage.
Someone in your corner who celebrates your wins.
Permission to let go of the feeling that you are broken, unfixable, or not enough.

Starting therapy can be vulnerable. Sharing is an incredibly brave thing to do and being nervous is nothing to be ashamed of. It takes courage to start therapy and the fact that you are on this website and reading this right now shows you are brave and seeking help.
Working with me, I’ll provide a safe, judgment-free space for you to be heard and supported. Everything you share with me is completely confidential, unless there is an imminent danger to yourself or someone else.
Whatever is present for you—whatever you are going through—bring that to the session and we can explore that together on your time. It will always be up to you what and when you’re ready to share. Some topics are difficult, overwhelming—or even terrifying—to discuss. And that’s perfectly okay. My job is to give you space to gradually start to work through the tough stuff.

Choosing a therapist is a personal decision. I encourage you to set up a free 30-minute consultation for us to get to know one another to see if we’d be a good fit. During our chat, you can ask me anything you’d like to get a feel for working together. You’re also welcome to share what’s going on for you and I can share my ideas around how I can help.
Every therapist is different, and my approach won’t work for everyone. Think of this call and our first few sessions, should you choose to continue, as testing the waters. What’s most important to me is that you find someone who you feel comfortable with. We can explore that together.

I currently accept Aetna and Optum/United Heath plans for individual therapy. I do not accept insurance for couples or family work at this time. I am happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your out-of-network benefits for reimbursement.

If you’re interested in starting therapy together, I encourage you to sign-up for a free 30-minute phone consultation. During the call, you can ask me any question you’d like as well as share what’s going on for you so I can share my ideas about how I can help.
If on our call you decide you’re ready to take the next step, we can book our first session together.
-
You can think of the first session as a free-flowing conversation where we begin to get to know each other. I’ll invite you to share more about yourself and your mental health journey—what’s worked and what hasn’t—what brings you to therapy and where you’d like to go. You are welcome to ask me questions too.
The most important part of a first session is to notice how you feel during and after the session. If you feel safe, accepted, and comfortable, we can discuss if you’d like to meet again.
-
The total duration of therapy varies from client to client. While some clients find 6-12 weeks to be enough to resolve immediate challenges, other clients feel more supported by long-term therapy. We will work together to find the length of time that works for you.
Many clients start to feel positive effects within the first three or four sessions and ongoing therapy continues to build self-awareness and confidence.
