Licensure Supervision in Pennsylvania

Becoming a therapist involves much more than simply providing a specific number of hours in a practice room.  The clinical experience is extremely important and imperative to the process, but the personal development outside of the therapy room creates the second half of the journey.  Finding a supervisor that can provide the required hours of supervision is a special decision clinicians have the opportunity to make early into their career. This person is the one who will sit and hold space for you as you process how your clients are progressing and how you grow in relation to them.

The supervision journey of becoming a licensed clinician is played for the long game. Finding a mentor who will be able to guide you through difficult sessions, support your goals and challenge you to stretch yourself clinically while also respecting ethical boundaries in the field.

So often attention is focused on learning and practicing the methods taught in graduate school and asking yourself, “am I doing this right?”  This is wonderful and fun to explore as you grow, but what is it like to discover how you create your own dance with your clients? It’s not just following the CBT step layout, inquiring about “parts”, or teaching new coping skills.  Your supervision journey is about finding your own flow within the many frameworks you have learned and developing trust for your own instincts just as you ask your clients to do in session.  You want a supervisor who can offer the safe space to explore and create with you and also push you with challenges in thinking and case conceptualization, all while delivering feedback that is digestible and concrete.

I love providing supervision to early therapists - the wonder of beginning is something I will always be excited by and helping clinicians grow energizes my own practice.  In supervision as the required hours of direct service are logged and a mentorship relationship created, we will develop professional goals and your voice as a therapist.  This development is shaped by more than the therapy room and client presentations - it is a path that you will continually examine throughout your career in any supporting profession.

Past supervisees describe my approach to supervision having a strong relational and somatic lens, easy to engage with/open up to, and very supportive.

I offer weekly and bi-weekly options for supervision to provide flexibility for clinicians and personal choice around how many hours of direct service you want to provide per week.
